Plate by Plate in 2009

On August 14, 2010, Project by Project will host its 8th annual Plate by Plate tasting benefit at the California Science Center's Wallis Annenberg Building. This charity event will seek to raise funds for Project by Project's partner, the Health Justice Network, a non-profit, community-based organization who serves as a collaborative voice for the API community to advance a pro-active agenda around health disparities and the right to quality health services, while growing community leadership and developing advocacy potential in individuals and organizations.

After looking over the list of participants for this event, I'm wondering how I could have missed it these past 7 years? Besides supporting a worthwhile cause, it is an event that showcases one of the many faces of the real Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Asian-American community.

The event will feature taiko drumming and other entertainment, along with all the great food and drink showcasing our beautiful Asian-American culture her in LA, that along with us Latinos, are 100% Angelinos.

You can sample a diverse range of local fare from fine dining restaurants like Jiraffe, Bistro LQ, Craft, and Fraiche. Mo-Chica, with its Asian infused Peruvian haute couture along with Nobu, Maison Akira, Musha, and Gonpachi will be on hand. And, you can catch blogosphere and twitterverse faves Starry Kitchen and Jitlada, just to name a few.

The choice of wine, beer and spirit is inspiring to say the least: Singha, Sapporo, and Stone Brewery beers;sakes from Ozeki,Boutique Sake, and Rock Sake; and wine from Viader, Trinchero, and Robert Oatley.
